Welcome

Welcome to the home of Cambridge University Squash Racquets Club!

CUSRC organise three men’s and three women’s teams, who play in a variety of leagues and matches throughout the year, culminating with the Varsity Matches in February. The club also organises college squash leagues and the annual cuppers competition, ensuring everyone at Cambridge University has the opportunity to play competitive squash.

With around 50 teams and 200+ players, college squash is a great way of getting into squash at University. Many players progress from college squash to University level throughout their time in Cambridge.

A successful year in the 2017/18 season saw CUSRC take both firsts and seconds varsity matches in a huge victory over O****d. The season culminated in our men’s team being crowned County Cup champions for the second year in a row. An exciting season lies ahead for all players with two teams in both mens and ladies Cambridgeshire division 1, and following the successful first season of our third mens team, we now have three mens and three ladies teams in the Cambridgeshire pyramid.

Please browse this site for information about our teams, training and matches. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the relevant member of our committee – see contact.

Match Report: Second & Third Team Varsity 2018

Cambridge Men come from behind to take the win in the Seconds.

 Cambridge Women reclaim Varsity title.

Men's MatchesWomen's Matches

Hampered by the Beast from the East (the storm, not the strength of this year’s Cambridge Varsity squad) the 2018 Seconds and Thirds Varsity Squash Match nearly didn’t happen. Fortunately, warmed by the fire that burned deep within the Cambridge team, the snow thawed and we made our way over to The Other Place.

On arrival, we found a lovely, modern sports centre with brand new facilities. Just behind which were the squash courts: old, dingy, but thanks to a recent renovation, swelteringly hot for both the players and the spectators. The main court wasn’t too bad, with the ball pinging around very quickly and decent lighting, but the women had to look past a flickering overhead light, and players on the reserve court may as well have taken torches on with them.

Though we can’t complain too much. O*ford, for all their faults of university choice, were great hosts, great sportsmen and women in the main, and the matches ran relatively smoothly.

The women’s team pulled off an amazing performance at the varsity match on Saturday (17 Feb). The girls have been working really hard over the year to improve and their dedication and commitment really showed on the courts, where all of us won our games! Credit to the Oxford team, who fought hard up till the end!

Varsity 2018

Varsity Squash 2018

The playoffs for position within the Varsity squads have been completed. The Varsity matches 2018 take place on the 17th February at the RAC, Pall Mall. The Ladies’ match starts at 1.30pm with the men following on around 4pm.

The men’s squad sees returning blues Luis North, Ben Robinson and Riki Houlden joined by impressive fresher Reuben Morris, and Andrew Boyd and Sam Coward have stepped up from the seconds squad last year after an impressive twelve months of training.

The women’s squad has a couple of changes from the famous win last year. Fresh out of Harvard, Keegan Mendez has impressed in her time at Cambridge (UK) and will be looking to inspire the ladies to another win. The return of Anira Perera, Laura Mullarkey, Anisa Ab Razak, Miranda Nicholson and Hannah Yogasundram to the team is an intimidating prospect for O****d.
